Yes... Always try to keep a tidy work area by putting things away before you start something else. God knows I dont always do it but it makes things so much better if you can. Oh yes, and make sure everything has a place..

I have an expandable 1-31 file. I place information in the folder on the day i need to work on it. If something gets pushed or reprioritzied, i move it to the next day. Every day, I open the file to find the work that is waiting for me that day. this also works for paying bills. The key is to be realistic about when "it" must be done. I also maintain a calendar and a daytimer.

one of the best ways to get organized is to keep a calendar or To-Do list. That way, until you get the feel of what you need to do, you can simply cross off each task as you complete them. Also, you can keep up with what needs to be done, even if you have to change the priority of each task several times.

To-Do lists work best. Once you see how many duties you have to get done, you can prioritize them for time management purposes. I have excelled at all of my office positions this way.

Do things you hate the most first. Once its out of the way, your day won't be too dragging. Always adopt the "do now" attitude.

Utilize your calendar. If you use Outlook always put appointments or reminders in Outlook and use it. I use my Outlook calendar and my calendar in my phone. I get reminders all the time.

Post its too. I have notes up on post its and once I take care of them, they get thrown away.
