Wow! I thought I was the only one who was an office manager getting paid $9.00/ hour. I am an office manager, I don't manage anyone, but I make the office run smoothly. And I work for a local Xerox agency so I wear many hats! My duties include: Filing, ordering supplies (toners, drums, etc), ordering Xerox machines (printers, faxes, etc.) Keeping inventory, answering phones, transferring calls, taking/relaying messages, typing documents (Contracts, memos, etc.), Scheduling/Rescheduling appointments, Accounts payable/recievable, Maintaining office (Taking out trash, Sweeping, Making coffee), Scheduling Service calls for customers (Sending out a service tech when customers have problems with their machines), Operating Xerox Equipment (Replacing supplies for machines we use in office i.e. un-jamming copiers, etc.) and other duties I can't even think of right now. But keep your head up, when u work hard, good things come to you.

That is what they call an office manager. That is the point no one appreciates you but if something goes wrong guess who gets the blame. First you are under paid what state are you in

as an office manager, you don't necessarily manage PEOPLE...you manage the office.

you take care of paperwork, faxes, phone calls, ordering supplies, etc.

you are there to make sure that all the office stuff is organizeds and taken care of so the sales people or other people in other positions can do their job.

are people really ignoring you or are they busy doing their own jobs?

if you're unhappy, then find something new!

take care.

This is what you do...Coordinate and schedule meetings, including meeting notices, copying and material distribution. Ensure that all phone calls, mail, faxes and daily situations are handled professionally and confidentially. Compose and draft letters, memos, faxes and other correspondence. Perform continual record keeping and other computer-generated support. Set up and maintain hard copy, manual files and personnel files as needed and as requested. Manage and schedule workflow. Complete and submit special projects. Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with existing and potential vendors and customers.... You have been given a high title for low pay...

Everybody is a manager because we all manage to get to bed and rise each day without anyone pulling us.

However, in business, the work of a manager involve planning, coordinating, organizing, and supervising his subordinates.

sounds like you need a new job, craigslist.org

an office mgr oversees all the functions of the office, such as AR/AP/Payroll/Office Functions and personnel. It can be an office of 1 to 100, doesnt' matter

you cant be a manager if people are ignoring you and for 9.50 an hr to pay a manager seems extremely low!!! i suggest speaking to hr to go over ur resposibilities and how to handle these situations according to company policy.

unless you r desperate never ask for an office Manager job. Other employees wil always undermine u n maybe u r more learned than them.

Find a new job unless you have an opportunity to move up in that office.

Get in your way... Often they dont know how to do your job but they have to look important so they give you meaningless tasks and try and tell you how best to do them...
